Interested in learning more about Smith College? Come to a tea next Saturday to ask all your questions in a low key and friendly environment. Your parents or loved ones are welcome to come with you.

Applicants' Tea

Applicants' TeaFifteen people attended the Applicants' Tea held on the cold wintry day of Jan 10, 2016, at the lovely home of Barbara Klaas '74. Current student McKenna Eckerline '18 fielded questions from prospective students and family members about college life while Barbara, Kristen Zoldan '06, and Mariquita Anderson '86 spoke of the importance of a women's college in their lives and about the all-important Smith network.

Thank you, Barbara, for hosting and thank you, McKenna, for teaching all of us what's current at Smith. We look forward to seeing who among the attendees will attend Smith in the Fall.

We do know of three students who will be entering Smith this Fall. They are Fall Early Decision candidates who were accepted in December:

  • Simran Rayna Alter of Central High School in Saint Paul
  • Anne Elizabeth Lepow of Edina High School, daughter of Smith Day Silent Auction co-chair Martha Phelps '87
  • Corrina Marie Pascale also of Edina High School

Please join us in congratulating these young women! They'll be invited to the Accepted Students Brunch in April and the Summer Send-Off Party in August.

Supper Club at Turf Club is cancelled

Supper Club

Supper Club at Turf Club is cancelled due to a sold-out show. I apologize. When I scheduled it a month ago, no show was scheduled for the evening. Luckily, Allison La Pointe '97 pointed out in our Facebook group early this morning that a CityPages residency was scheduled for the night. When I called to make reservations, I was told I couldn't because of the sold-out show.

Chinese New Year, the Year of the Monkey, is Feb 8 so there are ideas afloat for a Chinese restaurant for our next Supper Club. We're going to try to aim for the last Sunday of the month from now on to make it easier for people to remember when Supper Club is.
Drum Group

The last Sunday in January is Jan 31. Drum group is also meeting that day at 1pm at the Women's Drum Center in Saint Paul. Stay tuned to see how this works out or, better yet, send me your ideas, suggestions, and comments!

Happy nomming,
