Join us for Smith Day in the Evening: an event to reconnect with friends, support Smith students and to honor the legacy of Smith Day.  Invitations will be sent in early September.

Last year, our annual Smith Club event “eclipsed” from a day to an evening event.  This year we look forward to seeing you at the Museum of Russian Art for an evening with Smith friends new and old.  Activities will include docent-guided tours of the museum; a gourmet buffet dinner; a treasure-filled silent auction with special small gathering opportunities; fabulous raffle items; and the awarding of our third Minnesota Smith Club Medalist.

The Museum will feature multiple exhibits during our event including Mystical Imprints: Marc Chagall, Ben-Zion, and Ben Shahn along with Village Wardrobes: Traditional Dress from Western and Central Ukraine. This latter exhibit harkens back to our own Smith Day in the Country events when finding treasures and coordinating outfits was the theme of the day, and the display will feature “a unique selection of costume accessories including period jewelry, belts, shoes, bags, head coverings, and more, displayed together with the outfits.”

Now entering its 86th year, “Smith Day” is the Minnesota Smith Club’s annual fund-raising event. Proceeds support PRAXIS summer internship funding that allows students to gain practical experience in an area of special interest and supports our endowed scholarship fund. The PRAXIS program is a key differentiator for Smith and an invaluable experience for students. Over the years our endowed scholarship fund has grown to an impressive $2 million+.

As always, Smith EVENING is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other alums from the area and entertain friends. For some, it’s the only time during the year that they see dear Smith friends.
The club members who volunteer also have a great time as well as make valuable contributions to the event and to Smith.
